Pink Coffin 1

Huddled mourners

            Beneath

                        Tent

Rabbi reads

            Print-out

                        Eulogy

Rain drenches

            Pink

                        Coffin

Pink Coffin 2

Pink was a bit startling, but it was her favorite color

Now she’s gathered in Chicago

The estranged sons, their wives, a rag-tag of grandchildren

Around the pinkness that surrounds her

The coffin sways

The cradle rocks

                        Pinkness slips and slides

                        Down, down

                        A fetus in the womb

                        Sleeps in pinkness

                        Thumb in mouth

                                    Perfect
